"My new car buying experience at Brown Automotive was..."
My new car buying experience at Brown Automotive was outstanding. I recently moved to Charlottesville and was looking to buy a compact car. The candidates I was considering were the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, and Hyundai Elantra. I used the Consumer Reports "Build & Buy" program, which works with selected dealers to provide firm (and reasonable) price quotes from geographically accessable dealers. I obtained three price quotes for each of those models, and the best price quote for Toyota was from Brown, which was also the closest dealer (all the others for all three vehicles were anywhere from 35 to 90 miles away). I called Brown that same day and went over to see what they had available. The car that I had specified in Build & Buy was due to arrive at the dealership in a couple of days, but they had another car on the lot that was very close and I turned my attention to that.
The sales person I dealt with was Leslee Parsons and she was great. First, there was no need to haggle on price -- the car I bought was priced exactly the same number of dollars below dealer invoice as the car I had originally specified in Build & Buy, just as described by Consumer Reports. It was very straightforward. Second, Leslee took a significant amount of time, both on my original visit and the day that I came back to pick up the car, to go through all of the major features of the car in great detail. She also walked me through the manual for the car pointing out key sections to familiarize myself with. I never previously had a car sales person take that amount of time to explain a car in such detail and to patiently answer my questions.
We took the car out on a test drive on the initial visit, and I was impressed with the handling. When we discussed financing options, I was pleased that 0% for 36 months was being offered and that solidified my decision to make the purchase. On the day I picked up the car, the finance manager described and offered to me some additional options such as an extended warranty, but I declined those and there really was not a lot of pressure to add these bells and whistles. Before I drove away, Leslee walked me through the service department in preparation for my future servicing needs (there is a complimentary maintenance plan for the first two years or 25,000 miles). She also showed me what was under the hood and answered my questions regarding fluid levels.
All in all, a very pleasant buying experience and I highly recommend this dealership based on that experience.
